J-1 Update: State Updates and Reminders
Cortney Ikpe
Some states started accepting applications for their Conrad 30 programs earlier this month. Here is an update on states that are filling quickly:
Texas

As of September 14th, they have 29 applications. The application period was Sept 1-14 and it is likely closed now, unless they did not receive a full 30 applications.
New Mexico

As of September 7th, they have 15 applications and ALL flex slots are filled.
Also, some states have very different timelines for their Conrad 30 programs. Two of the most varied are:
Ohio

Ohio did not open their applications until January 25th, 2017 for fiscal year 2017, much later than any other state. We have inquired as to what date they will open this year and they responded that it has not yet been determined.
New York

New York's deadline is usually at the end of November or on December First, this can vary from year to year. They will not make a decision on the exact deadline until March.
